Ognuno di noi contribuisce attivamente a creare i meccanismi di quel potere che poi subisce. Questa l’idea che guida La vita psichica del potere, libro illuminante e denso di Judith Butler. Voce autorevole degli studi che, sulla linea di Foucault, indagano i dispositivi del potere sociale, Butler ricostruisce scrupolosamente il modo in cui ogni soggetto è sempre compromesso con il potere che lo assoggetta. Questo circolo virtuoso di collaborazione, spesso inconsapevole, si crea nella contiguità e nella mutua reciprocità tra universo psichico individuale e universo della cultura condivisa. Universi che creano una dimensione comune, senza soluzione di continuità. Lungi dall’esprimere giudizi morali su questo meccanismo – autentico tratto distintivo del nostro tempo –, tra le pieghe dell’analisi di Butler l’unica forma di emancipazione possibile si può ravvisare nel momento in cui la connessione tra mondo interno psichico e mondo esterno sociale viene individuata, esplicitata e messa a tema in modo critico dal soggetto che la produce. Avvalendosi del pensiero di Hegel, Nietzsche, Althusser, Foucault e Freud, Judith Butler compie un percorso di straordinaria attualità tra le maglie del potere contemporaneo.

Judith Butler (1956), è Maxine Elliot Professor presso il Dipartimento di Retorica dell’Università della California, Berkeley. è una delle più note teoriche femministe statunitensi e le sue tesi sul potere, sull’identità, sul genere e sulla sessualità sono al centro del dibattito filosofico internazionale. Nel 2012 è stata insignita del prestigioso Premio Adorno. Tra le sue opere tradotte in italiano: Corpi che contano (1996), La rivendicazione di Antigone (2003), Vite precarie (2004), Strade che divergono. Ebraicità e critica del sionismo (2013).

Federico Zappino (1983), dottore di ricerca e cultore della materia del Dipartimento di Scienze politiche dell’Università di Sassari, si occupa principalmente di filosofia politica e teorie queer. Ha curato l’edizione italiana di Stanze private. Epistemologia e politica della sessualità di Eve K. Sedgwick (2011).
