Questo non è Borges. Non è la Biblioteca di Babele. Questo è quello che scriveva nel 2007 Aaron Swartz per presentare Open Library, il progetto a cui stava lavorando all’epoca: una biblioteca digitale ad accesso libero, gestita da una fondazione non-profit, che oggi conta su un catalogo di più di un milione di libri, classici e moderni, disponibili in download in vari formati digitali. “Open library è tua. Navigala, correggila, alimentala”, recita il sottotitolo del sito, una specie di Wikipedia per i libri. Aaron Swartz aveva 21 anni nel 2007. Ne aveva 26 quando, l’11 gennaio del 2013, si è suicidato. Da allora, da sabato, la notizia ha rimbalzato sui social network e sui giornali di tutto il mondo. Perché? Chi era Aaron Swartz, al di là delle facili etichette di “genio ribelle della Rete” che i media di massa nazionali gli hanno frettolosamente attaccato addosso, e perché è importante ricordarlo?
