Leggere Capitalismo come religione di Walter Benjamin (appena edito da il Melangolo) può sembrare soltanto un esercizio di memoralistica, o un vuoto sforzo intellettuale. Il capitalismo del 1921 – l’anno in cui il filosofo tedesco quando prese questi appunti – era molto diverso da quello contemporaneo: ancora non aveva subito l’onda della grande crisi, e soprattutto non era passato attraverso le successive, numerose metamorfosi. Cosa possono insegnarci quattro pagine scarne di novant’anni fa sul momento storico che stiamo vivendo?
